The Boeing DC-10 is the older sister of the Boeing MD-11. It, as well as the MD-11, is a wide body aircraft often used for long-haul routes. The MD-11, unlike the DC-10, has winglets that stand many feet tall. A common feature also added to aircraft such as these with the second engine (engine in the back on the tail) is "hush-kitting." During this installation, a rounded, smooth piece of "aircraft plaster" is added underneath the second engine to make the air flow smoother and reduce noise pollution for passengers in the rear of the aircraft as well as in the lavatories. This Continental Boeing DC-10 is not hush-kitted.
